How Can I Tell What Edition My Magic The Gathering Cards Are?
I have found what I believe are first edition magic the gathering cards and I would like to price them but I have to know what edition they are to determine exact prices. They say "Deckmaster" They are from 1994.

Ok, first, you look at the border, if it’s black, it could possibly be Beta or Alpha, if it’s white, it’s not, that means it’s Revised or 4th.
Now, if it IS black, then the really only way to find out if it’s Beta or Alpha is to really look at the card, there are VERY small differences depending on the cards.
Such as Lightning Bolt, the Alpha Version was darker than the Beta version. Different cards have different things about them between Beta and Alpha.
Best thing is to take to an expert in a big city that you can trust, and get multiple opinions.
Also, if your SUURE that it was made in 1994, then it’s Beta, Alpha was released in 1993
All the previous answers are good but if you like, you can check with the site of the company that made the cards and see which edition the cards are from. As soon as you enter the site, click on the “Gatherer” option right under the search window and you’ll see a popup window that will allow you to enter a name and search the matching card there.
they are a special edition collectors edition from when garfield and finkel got bored and played a match, not worth much but the cards that are still in std (karpulsan forest) are still playable
i agree with zs3000’s statement but wish to take it one step furthur. Alpha Cards also have a rounder edge so that they are different then beta. Try holding the cards in question to a magic card from today if they match it’s beta if not its alpha.
I have been playing since alpha
